Watering

These guidelines are designed for pop-up sprinklers, drip, and spray irrigation in Western Placer County. For "rotor" or "impact" sprinklers, double the irrigation time. These guidelines will also apply for any landscape with a thin layer of topsoil and non - porous soil underneath.

NOTE: During the Winter season turn OFF watering if there is rain within any 10 day period.

Note: "Many parts of the state have better soil than the areas we serve. Normally, watering should be done infrequently, but a substantial quantity each time. This would encourage roots to grow deeply for healthy lawns. However, in our area, top soil is very thin and the underlying soil does not percolate. Therefore our watering suggestions, for this area, are more frequent for less time than most "experts" suggest. If you experience a lot of water "run off", you may wish to increase the watering frequency and decrease the amount of water each time. Please call or email if you have questions about this."
